Alex McMahonI'm Alex McMahon. I have a MM in Instrumental Conducting from Wichita State University (Wichita, KS). At WSU, I served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant in the WSU Bands department. In this position, I was responisble for: organizing the 2011 WSU Jazz Invitational (part of the Wichita Jazz Festival), organizing the 2010 WSU Bands Middle School Band Day, directing the WSU Shocker Sound Basketball Band during the 2011-2012 season through the MVC Tournament to the second round NCAA Men's tournament game in Portland, OR.
I have a Bachelor of Music in Education from Capital University (Columbus, OH). At Capital, I studied under trombonists Dr. Thomas Zugger and Professor Ryan Hamilton, Jazz with Dr. Lou Fischer, Dr. Michael Cox and Professor Vaughn Wiester, Music Education with Professor James Swearingen, Dr. Jeff Keller, and Band/Conducting with Dr. Barry E. Kopetz.
In addition to music- technology and education are two areas that I am drawn toward. This website helps me to organize my thoughts, lessons, and documents and share them with the online community. In the past, I have worked as a professional trombonist for summer-stock theater, cruise ships and area jazz bands, wind ensembles and orchestras.
